A little about me…
This is the home of some of my favorite pictures taken on my travels across the USA, from Seattle to Northern California. Like Richard Misrach - the rural American Southwest is one of my favorite subjects!
Having studied both analog and digital photography, I work with 35mm and 120mm, and occasionally large format. But my preferred method is 120mm on the Mamiya 645 Super. I mainly do film photography now, but I also occasionally do iPhone photography.
I was adopted from Chile by two wonderful physicians from Sheboygan, Wisconsin. In the early 90s, my wonderful artsy neighbor, Francha, was the one who introduced what would become my main passion. She was artsy and creative and helped me discover my creative spirit. Her house was filled with hobby tools from paints and canvases.
In sophomore year of high school, I took a film photography course and learned how to shoot and develop my own film. After that, I kept taking more courses and eventually went to Savannah College of Arts and Design (SCAD), Savannah, Georgia in 2007. In college, I got to work with different types of film processes and types (120/4x5) and large format (8x10).
In 2011, I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography, before moving back home for a short while. Later that year, I worked as an assistant with food photographer Al Macdonald, in Chicago. He taught me how to create the best pizza cheese pulls! In 2012, I moved to Seattle. Some of my work was featured in the Small Talk Collective’s: Light Conversation Vol. 2 with photographs from my ongoing series “Scenes from the Road”. I got to showcase some of my artwork from my roadtrips. The Small Talk Collective is based in Portland, Oregon and founded by 4 wonderful women photographers that now have a small gallery space!
After Covid-19, my husband, our chinchilla and I moved back to Sheboygan, WI. I am now in the process of rediscovering my hometown. My current project is about places around the city that leave their neon lights on after closing. Light is a recurring theme in my work that stems from my love of Vermeer paintings. The neon lights from these closed stores create an eerie, beautiful atmosphere that is so different from the rest of Sheboygan!
When I’m not taking photographs and editing, you can find me out on a roadtrip with my husband, doing embroidery projects, or playing cozy video games. I love stopping by the side of the road and capturing beautiful things. It brings me so much joy and I hope that my collections bring you joy too!
